One of Big Local’s most recent investments was purchasing sound equipment for exciting live music venue and vegan restaurant Moon on the Water.
The social enterprise which opened in June of last year approached Big Local for funding to purchase a new mixing desk. The new mixing desk replaces the venue’s old mixing desk which was kindly donated by a local band when Moon first opened. Whilst the mixing desk ‘did the job’ it did not have the capabilities of a modern mixing desk and was not conducive to helping Moon establish itself as an up-and-coming live music venue. Every week Moon offer a variety of music and entertainment in the form of a weekly disability disco, Jazz Sunday and monthly rock night.
Speaking about Big Local’s investment, Moon’s director Warren Jolly said: “Our old mixing desk was outdated, limited in its capabilities and not user friendly. Our new desk easier to use and has 25 different channels, as opposed to the old one which only had eight. This means that we can hook up three times as many instruments and microphones, increasing the quality of the sound that people can hear. We are aiming to offer a state of the art music system as much as possible, so for us, this was a logical next step. The new desk has superior sound and processing capabilities and it is easier to equalise and adjust the base and the treble. What’s more, our visiting DJ’s will be allocated their own individual channel which they can access quickly and easily. We have had the new desk for about a month and feel that it has, and will continue to make a big difference to the quality of our live music events.
