Supporting Cleethorpes young people with their social action projects and campaigns. Meet Victoria and the IGNITE programme

IGNITE is a programme from VANEL (Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire) that supports young people (18-30) with social and community action projects, ideas, events and campaigns.

Big Local North Cleethorpes (BLNC) has invested in the programme for North Cleethorpes so that local young people have an opportunity to help their community with as much support as possible.

The programme is led by Victoria Russell on behalf of VANEL and Big Local, and Victoria has been a key part of the IGNITE team since it began over three years ago with initial funding from Big Lottery.

Victoria is out and about around Cleethorpes and operates out of the Big Local offices at 82 Grimsby Road. If you’ve got an idea for a local campaign, event or project that you think could help the community then please get in touch with Victoria for a chat. She can help with organising your ideas, getting things planned, applying for funding, getting volunteers involved, organising events and much, much more.

There is a page with information about IGNITE here with Victoria’s contact details. Get in touch.

In the meantime Victoria has been sharing stories about some of the projects that she and IGNITE have supported over the past few years in Cleethorpes.

A couple of the most recent projects have been a Beach Sports Day led by Shaun Curtis which you can read about here, and a fundraising sponsored walk over the Humber Bridge which involved lots of people but was dependent upon the efforts of a young person from Cleethorpes. Read about the walk here.

Victoria will be sharing more stories on this blog. Keep an eye out for them and get in touch with Victoria.
