PROJECTS SUPPORTING OLDER PEOPLE
One of the thematic interests of Big Local is in projects that support older people in our community
Big Local North Cleethorpes has priority themes that include both young people and older people. We’re aware of just how many older residents are in our area and we’re keep to encourage and support initiatives that support this older population. We do this alongside other local organisations who also look out for the needs of an older generation.
Defining an ‘older’ person might mean someone over 80 who is vulnerable. But it could also mean someone aged 55 who has retired early. Whether it’s about over 50, 60, 70 or 100, we’re keen to run or support initiatives that make a difference to the lives of older residents.
This page outlines some of our past, present and future initiatives.
Stay Safe booklets
Big Local has supported the distribution within North Cleethorpes of booklets aiming to help inform older residents of ways to stay safe. Access the “Stay Safe” booklets on our partner page here or read the original news article about them on our blog here.
Older Peoples Support Network
We’re facilitating a Network to get all those supporting older people in Cleethorpes together. This is currently online and you can read about it here.
Safe and Well Checks
In 2018 Blue Lights Brigade carried out hundreds of checks on vulnerable older people across North East Lincolnshire as part of “Safe and Well” checks carried out in partnership with Humberside Fire and Rescue and part-funded by Big Local.
